So the new home office is laid out a bif different from the old one. The servers live in the basement now, meaning the printers can’t be hung off of them, unless I want to run down 2 flights of stairs. I don’t. I don’t know why print servers are so hard to shop for.
I had resigned myself to having to buy two single printer servers, but then found a nice 4 port print server! Boo-ya! It arrives today and what do I find out? That it’s not your average, “plug it, gets an IP and acts as a machine with printers” print server. No it’s some goofy weird thing that requires each client machine to install a little TSR that “virtually” (their term) connects the printer to the workstation. Problem is, when it’s “virtually” connected, no one else can connect to it. It’s simply fudging things to make your machine think the printer is local. LAME!!!
So here’s my request point me in the right direction please!! even a single printer is fine, I can buy two. Don’t recommend Keyspan, that’s what I got and it’s going back!
