Ted, Totally agree. I think as a first time, MAXUP did well and if it were to go off on it's own, this year at MAX did a lot to help build the base.

I'd definitely be interested in it as a stand alone conference. In my UGM days the Socal CFUG used to do a conference, it was a big hit.

I'll email ya :)

I like the idea of MAXUP as a low cost separate get together. Making it for more community/commercial "see whats going on" type of thing. I didn't have alot of time to attend MAXUP because of all the other sessions going on, but the little I did attend was high quality and good venue to see it at.

Great points. I think MAXUP would be better done as a standalone low cost/free venue. The goal was not to take away from MAX but to inject community into MAX.

As a version 1.0 conference MAXUP did very well (I think), we need to refocus, refine, and recompile it into something better. The session content was amazing, simply amazing. The 15 minute sessions kept things focused and self-managed. There was also allot of business done at MAXUP as speakers finished, they got into business discussions with attendees. It had a unique feel and I think delivered something unique.

If we were to make MAXUP as standalone conference focused on community and developers at a low price point, would that solve your issues?

Example:
$100 or less in San Francisco in Feb 2007?
$100 or less in Boston in May 2007?

John, please email me any feedback on MAXUP 1.0 and thoughts about MAXUP 2.0.

Ted :)
