360Flex videos are starting to get uploaded

In case you missed it, and even if you didn’t. We’re finally getting the session recordings up on Cruxy.

We’ve got 5 now, more coming. It’s a slow process, sorry, can’t be helped. We’ll also be putting the Adobe content on cruxy for .50 which will cover the hosting fees.

I wanted to take a minute to explain why we chose Cruxy. Honestly we’d never heard of them, however they came highly recommended, as the source for DRM free media hosting. "DRM Free"? Hell yeah. Next to neapolitan ice cream, DRM is the un-holy spawn of satan after he rebounded with the Carrie, after getting dumped by Sadaam.

We (mainly I. I’m not sure Tom cares, LOL) don’t want anything to do with DRM. Sure some folks will share the content, that’ll happen no matter what. But if you’ve paid for the rights to view a presentation, then by golly you can view it on an iPod or two, a PSP, your laptop, and if you want to burn it to DVD to back it up, go for it!

Don’t take this as my saying it’s ok to share against the license or spirit of the downloads… it’s not. distributing the sessions isn’t aimed at getting us rich, it’s aimed at helping us make some money to make each event that much better, we don’t believe in resting on laurels. So remember, "every time you steal content, God kills a kitten." It’s true, I’ve seen it. $3.60 is NOT that much to ask, and remember 1/3 goes to the speaker. How many other conferences can say that? NONE

In the tradition of 37signals, we’re also going to be offering a ‘site license’ concept. Where you can buy a 10 license version (it’s the same file) of a presentation for use with 9 friends, co workers, strangers on the bus, whatever.

I know it’s been almost a month since 360|Flex seattle, but we’re working on the videos and the pricing as soon as possible. We’re talking to cruxy about being a conference partner so look for cool things from that relationship…

Hi John, I’m a volunteer with the Adobe Boston User Group. If I buy a license for one of your videos, is it okay if I show it at a meeting? Seems to me that it would be good for the group, and good publicity for the videos as well…

    Hey Douglas,

Definitely. All the videos are Creative Commons, so as long as you’re not selling it or anything. We do offer a bulk license intended for sharing and stuff.

    Enjoy.
