360Conferences VideoLibrary… close, still not pretty

Posted on | October 8, 2007 | 17 Comments

the 360Conferences Video Library app is getting close. I haven’t tested with anything buy paypal, but you can now browse our content, and purchase a session. I haven’t handled downloading the content directly from the app, you still have to use the email that is sent to you to get the actual media file. That’s next on my list.

I haven’t skinned it yet, that’ll probably be last. I’m thinking I’ll play with some UX stuff too, make the experience of browsing the content a little cooler. Plus since we offer bulk license downloads, each session is listed twice. I’ll pull the bulk licenses out and make them an option on the media player screen.

Take it for a spin (make sure you’re running the latest AIR Beta)

    @douglas,

    Glad it worked! Sorry for making it so painful, thanks for trying it out. Yeah the video processing is taking a while, we’ve only got one person to do it, so he gets batches of them done each week or so.

    We’ll probably do a blog post (I will here for sure) to announce that all of them are finally up. Hopefully not too much longer.

    It looks as though videos haven’t been produced for all speakers. I’d love to see Jim Echmalian’s presentation. Do you have any idea when that will be available?

    weird. sorry about that. something was happening to the AIR file when I was uploading it. I put it into a ZIP file, and just tested it, it doesn’t get that weird error.

    try it now.

    Err… I don’t understand "extra / is out". I’ve tried save-as, but the runtime tells me that what I’ve saved isn’t an air file.

    Sorry, the extra / is out. Also you’ll probably need to right click and do save as. Unless your browser knows what to do with .AIR

    Hi John, me again. :) A few bugs in the app:

    1. In the available content window the titles overlap the thumbnails and are close to impossible to read when the thumbnail is dark.

    2. When I go to purchase a video – in the first screen – the ‘Buyer FAQ’ link doesn’t work for me at all. The ‘more info’ link opens up another box but it cuts off content at the bottom and can’t be resized. The ‘terms of use’ box has the same problem.

    3. When I get to the Google checkout window it has similar problems. Hey, I just noticed the a refresh with the F5 key helps a little. But you still can’t get to the area for new users…

    Hope this is helpful, not discouraging. It’s a neat idea – just needs a little polishing.

    Douglas

    @Douglas,

    Thanks for the feedback. Most of those are things I need to learn more about the HTMLControl, since all that from the point you click purchase is simply Cruxy’s existing HTML content for accepting payments. I ran through it with paypal, but haven’t tried the other methods.

    I’m hoping to replace the HTML with a payment API, they just haven’t gotten it yet.

    I really appreciate the feedback. you rock!
