@Tony,

yeah I had the same problem at Ebay. My guess is that the port was blocked for Bonjour. I had to create an ad hoc wireless network on the MBA and join my iPhone to it. Definitely less than ideal.

Found that out after I bought it, and asked wooji what was up. Not sure if Bonjour's port is commonly blocked or not. hoping not!

I tried using Stage Hand for one of my talks, but I couldn't get the manager to pick up the keynote. I was bummed because that's why I bought it. I'll try playing with it again later, I suppose.

Hey John,

Glad to hear you got it up and running -- there's not a lot we can do if the network port-blocks us, but setting up your own via ad-hoc network usually sorts everything out.

The highlighter's pretty straightforward -- just rotate your iPhone into landscape mode and tap the screen. Make sure "Allow ExposÈ, dashboard and others to use screen" is enabled in the Keynote preferences otherwise nothing will happen! (because Keynote locks us out of drawing on the screen.)

Hmm, I really need to find time to do a screencast of Stage Hand!

I don't know about blocked ports in the wild, but hopefully for iPhone users, it's not often -- Apple don't let third-party developers use iTunes sync except for pure backup, so pretty much every iPhone app that wants to do desktop syncing, uses Bonjour to locate the services.

Yeah bummer on the port thing, makes me curious how often that port is on the blocked list?

Great product! can't wait to make use of it.
