My thoughts (more or less) exactly. And I was actually in the market. I was _specifically_ holding off buying a new MBP to see what the next gen was going to be. My biggest concerns:

- Like you, I'm not a fan of glossy screens. Look great (awesome, really) in low light but not in bright or varied lighting. The reflection is distracting.
- The clickable trackpad. Feels like a recipe for inadvertent clicks. Might not be, but it's a concern.
- The resolution. Can we _really_ do no better than 1440x900 on the 15" MBPs?

That said, I like:

- the Multi-touch trackpad
- The styling (of course)
- The magnetic "latch"

Problem is, none of the things I like are enough to compel me to buy. And two of the things I don't are compelling reasons _not_ to buy. Too bad.

Guess there will be a nice secondary market in stick-on anti-glare products.
Bit worrying they're extending this gloss-only approach to the MacBook Pro too.

I agree. I have an older iMac at home with matte screen. When I got a new one at work (when I did work at a job full time) I got a new iMac with glossy screen. It was horrible. How can any professional do any work with so much visual interference? It's cool to show off and looks great in a showroom. But to get any actual work done, glossy screen is not good. And for artists, too! How can you color correct an image or make subtle pixel pushings with reflections??

I have had my glossy MBP for a year now and I have no complaints. Love it. Love the screen. Well, love is a strong word. Don't let the glossy screen scare you. Unless of course you work in a darkened room with a big window directly behind you. Then you will have some issues.
