However, most Amtrak trains (except the fancy ones in busy corridors) don't have plug-ins in coach, and the cheapest roomettes still add a lot to the price. I just priced a Denver to New Orleans round-trip next month with a roomette at $930 (vs. $249 for air fare). I might try it sometime for the experience, but it seems a bit pricey to do it often.
