My Hobby Isn’t Worth a Single Life.

I was at the gym the other night and this notion popped into my head. I was on a cardio machine and the numerous TVs around the space were covering the recent shooting at a high school in CO. It was incredibly sad to watch, whether it was teens rallying around a wounded classmate, or the sad statement from the devastated parents of the shooter. How do you reconcile the grief of loosing your child, against the evil he committed against others? I can’t even begin to imagine their pain. This was the thought as it popped into my head. I captured it on my iphone so I wouldn’t lose it. “If someone said kindles were directly responsible for thousands of deaths a year. I’d smash it on the ground…

That’s a lot of session recordings

So, around the middle of the year, or so I decided to put conference session recordings on Vimeo. Up until then I’d been keeping them on Amazon and selling them through Fastspring, occasionally making one free on the conference website. I decided after 360|intersect 2013 that I wanted to simply make the session recordings free. Selling them wasn’t bringing in gobs of money so I wasn’t losing much revenue by going free, but I was keeping the number of people who saw the videos low, and I think it’s just better for the community and the conferences to share such awesome content with anyone that wants it. This data is as of 12/6 but i think I was right in my decision.   That’s for less than 70 (69 to…

A bit more on Smart Watches

So I’ve been two timing my Pebble the last few weeks, with the Metawatch Frame. I could see my Pebble being second string really fast. This isn’t an in-depth review of either, more of a quick comparison of them. The Frame is way nicer than the Strata which i kickstarted, and really didn’t like the look of. it was ok, but a bit too sporty. The Frame is damn nice looking, has a bit of weight to it like a real watch (real being the dumb variety) Nicer than pebble by far, even when using a fancy watch face :) I’ve talked about Pebble vs. Metawatch before, and really, i think if these two companies merged, it’d be the perfect storm of non Apple smart watches. I love that Pebble…

Why I voted No on 66

For those who are quick to judge, it’s NOT because I’m anti education, or anti kids, or anything like that. In fact I’m very pro educated populace. I’ve seen idiocracy and if you haven’t you should. It’s one of those parody movies that hits a little close to home… To me, Amendment 66 had a huge flaw that made it a ‘no’ vote for me. It took two things that are very separate issues and tried to shove them together. I don’t know why, I don’t know if any thought was given to it, but it took a tax increase to the tune of 950 Mil. That’s almost 1 Billion dollars, and lumped it in with reforms to the way money for schools is handled. School reform is a big…
