That’s right! Settled on a cover, have opened pre-orders!
Are you chomping at the bit to see what kind of trouble our band of misfits can get into on Earth? Well the wait is almost over!
December 23rd, just in time for folks to unwrap shiny new ereaders.
If you know you want to read it please go grab your pre-order. I’m hoping to beat Space Rogues 4’s pre-orders. It’s an ego thing, sue me.
In Space Rogues 5: So This is Earth, the crew goes to, well, Earth (it’s in the name). They have some neat adventures (You’ll have to read it) and spend a while away from the Ghost.
Of course they get back to the ship though, she’s their home.
“Damn I’m glad to see her,” Wil says exiting into the clearing the Ghost is sitting in. The ship looks just like when they’d left her a few weeks ago.
“It’s kinda ugly.” Agent Smith says entering the clearing, next to Maxim.
The tall Palorian looks down at the human, “It is a she, and she’s the best ship I’ve ever been on, and she’s beautiful.”
Smith makes a face, “I’d hate to see the other ships then.”
This is officially my first public thing as a writer! A panel at MileHighCon 51
I’m on a panel Saturday (the 19th) at 7pm. It’s about Self publishing and platforms like KDP, Createspace and Ingram Spark. Should be fun!
I applied for a spot in author’s Alley but alas was not selected so if you want to get a signed copy of Space Rogues you’ll have to literally walk up to me and ask. I’ll try to have a backpack full of them :)
I’ll be honest I’ve never been to MileHighCon before, but that’s more oversight than anything else. I’ve never been a crowds person, so conventions are rarely my scene. Of course now I’ve selected yet another occupation where I don’t get to hide in a cave if I want to succeed, go figure.
Anyhow, grab your tickets and come hang out with a bunch of nerds. And definitely come to my panel so I see faces I know in the audience!
So, last week I posted the first take on the cover for Space Rogues 5: So This is Earth? (I hadn’t settled on the subtitle yet, but I like this one).
I also sent that cover to my newsletter (You’re on it right? Lots of fun and perks there!)
As folks began chiming in with their thoughts I started tinkering on a cover that’s more thematically similar to the rest of the series. It’s below next to the first pass at a cover.
So I’m curious now (I know, I just asked) about which you prefer? I actually feel more drawn to cover two. Like I said, It’s thematically in line with the series (the Ghost in space/over a planet). Verson 1 is neat and gets to show off the Ghost with the cargo ramp down, sitting on her landing gear (plus, who are the two people standing there?). Except the trees feel a little cartoony to me.
I’ve got time to tweak and decide, but figured I’d involve you all in the process :)

So, while I love the crew of the Ghost and plan to chronicle their adventures for as long as I can, I’ve been toying with something new. I’m not going to give you a ton of back story yet for this new cast of misfits, you’ll have to meet then when they say “hello world” sometime early in 2020.
“She’s on her way.” Scarlett replied.
“OK, cool. Now, about Edward. Can it harass that other boat? I promise if it buys the farm I’ll buy you a new one.”
“Uh, you were buying me a new one anyway, remember Jacob, he’s dead.”
“He is a drone, but ok sure. I’ll get you two drones.” Jason sighed, rolling his eyes.
“I heard that.”
Sofia turned, suppressing a chuckle.
“Just do it Scarlett.” Jason said.
On the radar display a dot appeared, slightly ahead of their mysterious pursuers. It turned and headed straight for the other boat. Over the speakers Scarlett’s voice softly said, “Godspeed Edward, godspeed.”
“That’s not healthy,” Sofia said, looking up to see if she’d been caught. She hadn’t.
I can’t wait to add this crew to the roster. I’m about 1/2 way through the first draft of their first book and it’s been fun.
Space Rogues 5 is officially with the editor!
So… while I work on ideas for Space Rogues 6 (and a new series I hope you’ll enjoy) I took a bit of time to work on the cover.
I’m not 100% sure this is the final version, but it’s the idea I’m going for. What do you think?
I wanted to show the Ghost landed (You’ll have to get your copy when it comes out to find out where she’s landed), and wanted to see what it would look like to have her in a forest clearing.
